Department of Fishery Science

Introduction

DnyanopasakShikshanMandal introduced the faculty of science in academic year 1992-1993. The department of Fishery science is the one of the applied optional subject to provide knowledge of the fishery science is the requirement of the local area. Last 29 years has been engaged in teaching basic and applied area of Fishery science. This department makes continuously efforts for students to develop interest towards practical knowledge of Fishery science. The department runs B.Sc. three-year degree course as one of the optional subjects at UG level. Department has well equipped laboratories.

Objectives of the Department

To impart the basic education in Fishery Science.

• To acquaint the students withdiversities in animal life.
• Emphasis on ecological importance of fauna.
• Sustainable use of animal resources for the betterment of mankind without interfering the ecosystems.
• To undertake the surveys and projects to identify and solve the problems of local area (Jintur Taluka)
• Making students aware about the recent trends in the development of fishery science.

• The area is rich in fresh water resources due to availability of Yeldari, Siddheshawar and Lower Dudhnareservoirs. Hence this department provides knowledge regarding fishery via students to local society.

• One of the faculty members has the chairman in BOS in fishery science.
• One of the faculty members has the BOS member in Fishery Science, Faculty member of S. R. T. M. U University Nanded.

B.Sc. F.Y., B.Sc. S.Y. & B.Sc. T.Y. is the part of the course and all the subjects are compulsory to the students (120)

Admission /Eligibility criteria/procedure

The students who have been passed 10+2 with Science subject, admission given as per Maharashtra state government rules

Laboratory facilities

There is common laboratory space with Zoology with adequate faculties such as light, fans, continuous water supply, and furniture. Internet connectivity to the laboratory Teaching Aids Teaching aids are shared with department of Zoology.

Future perspective plans
