Department of Zoology
Introduction
The Department of Zoology was established by the Dnyanopasak Shikshan Mandal’s Arts, Commerce and Science College Jintur in 1992. It offers program such as B. Sc. The Department is one of the best for its teaching and research activities. The Department of Zoology is the prime department of the college. The alumni of the department are holding the higher position.The employment response is more then 75%. Dr. I. M. Shaikh is Head of the Department and Prof. Dr. B. G. Thakare is working as Associate Professor.
Objectives of Zoology Department
- To motivate students for higher education
- To generate scientific attitude.
- To liberate students mind from superstition and blind faith.
- Toencourage students for community work such as hygiene and health.
- To provide higher education in Zoology to rural, backward & tribal students.
- To motivate students for ecofriendly research.
- To reflect the current and emerging trends in Zoology
- To make enable students for NET and SET examination.
- To promote interaction between students and Zoological survey.

B. Sc. F.Y., B. Sc. S.Y. and B. Sc. T. Y is the part of the course and student has to select Zoology as a one of the optional out of three optional.

SWOC analysis of the department
Strength
- Both teacher are completed Ph.D.
- Consistently good academic result of subject and strength of the student.
- Dr. I.M. Shaikhis Ex. NSS program officer.
- Jintur is tribal area famous about wild life animal.
- Maximum natural resources of apiculture, sericulture and aquaculture.
Weaknesses
- No separate store room, no animal house.
- Less laboratory space for continues increasing strength of student.
- No separate department (along with fishery science).
- No research laboratory and research center.
Opportunities
- To motivate the students for survey of biodiversity of aquatic and terrestrial fauna
- Maximum forest area, variety of wild and domestic animals for knowledge
- Easily available self-employment in the field of aquaculture, goat farming, poultry farming etc
- Almost all students can apply for PG & higher education
Challenges
- Decreasing awareness of the subject in society.
- Lack of practical knowledge of student at 12thsciencelevel.
- Unable to understand the concept and basic thing.
- Unawareness of students about environments.
- Economically and socially students are backwards
